I C T (I See Transformation)
Schoolyear 2008-2009 commenced with a blast with the complete transformation of the basement section of the Fr. Burgos Gym into a state-of-the art Information and Communications Technology Center (ICT).
The gloomy basement rooms were repainted with bright pastel colors and engraved with geometric designs that resemble that of Microsoft to attract its intended occupants - the students. Moreover, a special lighting system was strategically placed at the entrance hallway both for practical and aesthetic purposes; to illuminate teh hallway and emphasize the spectrum of colors.
There are five (5) fully air-conditioned computer laboratories, three (3) of which, exclusively for IT students, are equipped with new 40 computers with LCD monitors each. Moreover, four (4) completely renovated rooms are furnished with four (4) ceiling fans each to create an atmosphere conducive for learning.
The ICT Center also houses two (2) new offices; the office of the Management Information Systems (MIS) headed by Mr. Thomas R. de Austria, Jr. and the Printing Room under the stewardship of Mr. Albert Perillo.
It also contains the newly upgraded Internet Room - now fully functional to serve the studentry.
The fusion of ideas and cooperation of the whole SLC Administration under the effective leadership of the new President Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM gave birth to the avantgarde idea of developing the ICT Center.
"In order to bring the college to a higher level, everyone should move towards development - the students, teachers and of course, the facilities. Thus, the idea of the ICT came into existence," shares Fr. Sales.
The ICT Center was formally inaugurated on June 13 with a solemn prayer service presided by Fr. Valentin Narcise, CICM, the newly appointed Chaplain and Liaison Officer. Moreover, it officially opened its doors to all Louisians last June 15.
