Internet Section PDF Print

The internet offers vast collection of information, researches and references. It is the modern way of doing research, studies and improving students' intellectual capabilities through information sharing.

The Internet Section caters the research needs of the students in all courses and department of the College. It is equipped with upgraded computer units installed with application programs and other peripherals for Internet use.

The students and employees can avail of the internet and other services (e.g. encoding, printing, etc.) everyday during office hours, thus, users are expected to be guided with the existing policies and guidelines of the Internet Section.

The Internet Section will continuously be upgraded and improved to meet the demands of users - the students especially.

Policies and Guidelines

PRIVATELY OWNED COMPUTERS

  1. Anyone who brings his privately-owned computer is personally responsible for the equipment.

  2. Any damage to the equipment, including results from viruses, is the responsibility of the individual.

  3. A privately-owned computer maybe connected to the SLC Internet under the following conditions:

    1. File storage on the network from privately-owned computers is limited to official business only.

    2. The individual must supply all necessary hardware/software and cabling to connect to the Internet.

EMAIL ACCOUNTS

  1. Be cautious about what you send and to whom.

  2. Be careful with Email attachements, this may introduce viruses. This is likely if the attachment arrives from an unknown source via the Internet.

  3. Sharing of Email accounts is prohibited.

  4. Unacceptable use of Email account is defined to include, but is not limited to the following:

    1. Any authorized attempts to read, copy, modify or delete Email messages of other users.

    2. Use of Email to upload, download or resend copyrighted or pornographic materials.

    3. Use of Email to harass or discriminate against someone.

    4. Use of Email to post chain letters or engage in "spamming" (sending annoying or unncessary messages to a large number of people).

INTERNET USAGE

  1. Every user should see to it that he logs in and out to properly monitor the duration of time used.

  2. Do not use the Internet in any ways that violate school policies and standard of behavior.

  3. Be considerate of others who need to use the Internet for school assignments and projects.

  4. Find out what is the reasonable time to be on the Internet and what is reasonable to download from the Internet.

  5. Only relevant information related to school work/lessons should be downloaded.

  6. Playing games is not allowed on the network computers.

  7. Downloading large files is strongly discouraged.

  8. Do not surf on sites that contain offensive materials.

  9. Do not use the Internet for any illegal activity, including copyright violation.

  10. Do not use the Internet for personal financial or commercial gain.

PRINTING SERVICES

  1. Every user should pay the necessary printing fee at the Accounting Office prior to printing.

  2. Receipts shall be presented to the Internet Coordinator (No Receipt - No Print).

  3. Any user who erroneously prints his research output will be responsible for the cost of the print out.

  4. The Internet Section charges the following print cost:

    • Black text printing - P 3.00 per page (long or short bond paper)

    • Colored printing - P 25.00 per page (short bond paper)

    • Colored printing - P 35.00 per page (long bond paper)
